That'll leave a mark.
So.. I had a little get-off on the MOTO the other day. Emmett and I were headed up Bogus to hit some dirt trails down into 8th street. It was a little overcast and chilly that day and since the ride was more aimed towards the dirt I didn't wear my Icon jacket. I just threw on some old snowboarding gear over the top to keep warm.
Anyways we just started making our way up the hill just taking our time and got into the beginning of the twisties. I passed a couple of spandex-icans (road cycle guys) just before entering the first hair-pin. (note: going way slower than I normally would) halfway through the corner I do my last bit of leaning before I roll back on the throttle to stand up when the back tire just let's go... I tried to be as graceful as possible but I slid out to the barrier and as soon as I hit it the throttle on the bike stuck wide open and launched it out from under me and started spinning circles in the road till it died.
I picked myself up just as Emmett and the spadex-icans roll up. They quickly pointed out that my gps and cell phone had ejected mid-crash. So I dust myself off and pick up my things and the cyclers are looking at me in amazement and asked me over and over if they needed to call an ambulance. I did my best to assure them that I was fine and started assesing the damage to my bike.
From first glance it didn't look too good. The handlers were twisted forward, the shifted was bent out, my homemade gps mount was bent badly. But once I twisted the bars back and re-adjusted my mirrors and controls I realised that most of the damage was cosmetic. All in all the only real damage was my bars were bent the mount was bent.
But I straitened them out for the most part and my rear twilight/license plate was broken but still functional.
And for my body I only suffered some bumps and bruises and a little road rash on my elbow.
So the ride was still on. We finished up our ride. It turned out great. All in all, beyond some bumps, bruises, cosmetic damage to the bike and my destroyed pants it was nothing more than a scary thrill ride and somewhat of a good story to tell. (albeit long-winded)

Time to introduce the machinery
First off, The workhorse of the group. The bike that gets the most use and abuse my 2008 Yamaha WR250X. This bike is the epitome of freedom to me! When I'm riding this thing the world is my playground. Weather its just commuting to work or carving through the twisties, or exploring the logging roads of the woods, to riding single track in the foothills, or combining all of them into 2000+ miles of the biggest road trip of my life, this thing has taken me there and back and will continue to.
Then there is my 2002 Honda Cr250R Dirt Bike. Super fun Really quick But not ridden enough. I love this bike purely for those times when I need to catch some air or roost out of a deep corner!
Next is my 1983 Yamaha Maxim XJ400. I bought this thing for $100 just for something to use as a practice project. I want to kinda go the bobber/rat-rod direction with it.
Next on the list is my 1969 Yamaha AT1 125 Enduro. My step-dad bought this for me back when I was about 12 years old. I rode it for a while and then it sat for almost 20 years and I just recently got it running again.
Then last but very far from least is my early birthday present, a 1967 B.S.A. 650 Thunderbolt. Its been in the back of my step-dad's barn for almost 20 years and we don't know the history beyond that but I have been working on piecing it back together. I'm hoping to get it running here in the next couple of months. I cannot wait to hear this thing run and feel what a true classic is like to ride!
Of course there will be many updates to the progress of each of these projects so stay tuned!
Thanks

Introduction to Madness...
So for those of you who don't know me, I'm Danny. I have a really bad obsession with bikes. It doesn't really even matter what kind of bike. If its got two wheels I'm interested. So I'm starting this blog to document my illness. I want this to be my travelogue my project diary and an outlet to express my inspiration along the way. I also hope to keep it entertaining to those who tune in. Enjoy.
....or don't if your not into it.
